Art helps me to understand the world. When I paint a landscape, I immerse myself in it completely , and it becomes a part of me. When I paint a person, I come to feel like I know her more intimately as Ifrom captureing her likeness and expression. Whenever I hold a brush or pencil in my hand, I see my surroundings newly in a new lightby, thinking in the language of marks and lines, of light and shadow, of negative space and balance. TI find it amazing that through art it is possible to, we can inhabit the minds and enter each others’ minds and experiences of othersshare our experiences. My goal as an artistin art is to capture what I see in order toand preserve the significance of the moment at hand.
